Living The Semi-Retired Life: 49 States, 81 Countries And 3 Vices
Without vices are you really semi-retired?
In today’s installment of the Never Retire: Living The Semi-Retired Life newsletter, we talk vices. Asking: Can you really be semi-retired without a vice or three?
But first… I must make a small tweak to the presentation and terminology.
When I write, I frequently look up definitions of words I think I know the meaning of. To ensure (not insure!) I use them properly. Words we toss around colloquially (I looked that up!) in the English language so they end up taking on a different—and technically inaccurate—meaning.
Such as vice…
Okay!
Good exercise.
So let’s not call them vices. Let’s go with—
Potentially unhealthy, regular indulgences.
I reveal my three potentially unhealthy, regular indulgences in a moment alongside my rationale (or rationalization!) around them.
But first… Substack has a cool stats section for authors.
I’m proud to say this newsletter gets read in 49 states and 81 countries.
I love this. Though I can’t seem to figure out the one state in the union without even a single subscriber.
With 195 countries in the world today, we reach just over 41% of them. My future home—Spain—has 16 subscribers! Si vives en España escribeme y dime donde.
Italy checks in with 4 subs. There’s one subscriber in Iceland, 126 in the UK and 118 in Canada, where, technically, I am a citizen.
This Friday, I anticipate picking up another Canadian reader or three, as the great
will publish a guest post in his publication. So be on the lookout for that. Now, my potentially unhealthy, regular indulgences.
